About us
We were founded in 2014, when online betting was turning up more and more often in psychiatric consultations, with no specialist service to meet the need.
Why we exist
Online gambling has changed the way people lose control. No one needs to visit an arcade any more: a smartphone, a card and two spare minutes are enough. The people who come to us are often young, working, have families and hide the problem for years.
Wendepunkt was founded by psychiatrists and psychotherapists to offer these people treatment designed from the ground up for digital gambling: technical blocks, debt counselling and family involvement, alongside therapy.
Our name means "turning point" in German. The moment you ask for help is a turning point, and you won't walk the road that follows alone.
Our principles
- No judgement
- Gambling addiction is a health condition, not a character flaw. We treat everyone with the same respect as for any other illness.
- Complete confidentiality
- What you tell us stays between you and the clinical team. No information leaves the clinic without your explicit written consent.
- Evidence-based
- We use approaches with proven effectiveness for gambling disorder, such as cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing.
- Family matters
- We involve the people close to you whenever you want us to, because recovery happens at home, not only in the clinic.
- Measured outcomes
- We assess each person's progress at set points and use the results to keep improving our programmes.
- Long-term support
- Treatment does not end at discharge. We stay in touch for at least a year.
Our facilities
A practice in Berlin with a discreet entrance and soundproofed rooms, and a house for residential stays 45 minutes outside the city, surrounded by forest and lakes.
Licensing and data protection
Wendepunkt Gesundheit GmbH is a private clinic (Licence under Section 30 of the German Trade Regulation Act (GewO), issued by [enter authority]). Our doctors and psychotherapists are members of the Berlin Medical Association (Ärztekammer Berlin) and the Berlin Chamber of Psychotherapists (Psychotherapeutenkammer Berlin) respectively.

Working with others
